The Danish government is studying a law that may lead to a ban on demonstrations

The Danish Ministry of Justice is discussing a draft law titled "Insecure Behavior", whereby the government will grant the police the right to make it illegal for anyone to stay in a geographically defined area for 30 days if someone exhibits "behavior that leads to insecurity" in that area, The demonstrations are not exempt from the residence ban imposed by the police.

The law indicates, according to the Danish newspaper arbejderen, that if, for example, a ban is imposed on residence in a residential area, it will not be possible to demonstrate, against ghetto legislation in the residential area in question.

Lisa Blinkenberg, Senior Advisor to Amnesty International, said that this law is a serious infringement of the right to be able to demonstrate peacefully, and that we must insist that it is democratic freedom and that we must be able to demonstrate peacefully.

She noted that democratic values are some of the best we have in Denmark and some of the most important things we are striving for in the world, and they must be upheld.

The bill aims to implement the so-called security package introduced by the government last fall, and if you violate the residency ban, you will be punished with a fine of 10,000 kroner or imprisonment for up to one year, and the 30-day residency ban can be extended again and again.

The government bill has already received criticism from several international human rights organizations such as the European Civil Forum, the European Civil Liberties Union and Civicus, who believe the law violates international conventions.
