Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Abdul Ghani said, "We have a serious opportunity more than ever to reach peace with the Taliban, according to media sources."
The Afghan president added: We now have a serious ground for peace with the Taliban and what NATO decided in its last meeting was an important message.
Earlier, Afghan President Muhammad Ashraf Abdul Ghani said that a political settlement must be reached, explaining that there is a window of opportunity to accelerate the peace process after NATO's non-final decision on the withdrawal of forces.
Abdul Ghani added - in televised statements reported by the Afghan news agency (Khama Press) - that "NATO's announcement provided an opportunity for all parties to the conflict to recalculate and reach a conclusion that we reached a long time ago, which is that the use of force is not the solution," referring to the increase in violence there. And that a concrete effort is needed globally to send signals that certain types of behavior are unacceptable.
