Putin declares 10 days off in Russia to fight Corona


Russian President Vladimir Putin announced, on Friday, a 10-day official holiday next May in Russia, in order to combat the Covid-19 epidemic, which is declining very slowly, according to official figures.


"If you think that this is necessary, I will sign the decree today," regarding this official holiday, Putin said during a televised interview, according to Western media, in response to a request from the head of the Russian Health Agency, which considered that this measure would curb the spread of the epidemic.


For the sixth consecutive day, the Russian health authorities recorded less than 9,000 new infections with the Coronavirus within 24 hours, while the daily death toll is still at the level of nearly 400 cases.


The special operations room to combat the outbreak of the coronavirus in Russia announced today, Friday, that it had detected 8,840 new infections (compared to 8,996 the previous day), noting that the largest number of new infections (2,502 cases) returned to the capital, Moscow.


The death toll from the "Covid-19" disease caused by Corona in Russia increased during the last day by 398 deaths (compared to 397 deaths yesterday), while 9,407 patients recovered.


The total number of HIV infections recorded in the country since the beginning of the pandemic has become four million and 744,961 confirmed cases, including 107,501 deaths, 266,246 active cases, four million and 371214 recoveries.


To date, more than 127.1 million laboratory tests have been performed in Russia to diagnose cases of corona, 332,000 of them have been conducted in the last 24 hours.
