European countries seek to ease travel restrictions to support the recovery of the economy

A group of European countries that depend on tourism as a major source of revenue are seeking to persuade the European Union to ease travel restrictions from the rest of the world.

"Some countries want to adopt more targeted measures, in an effort to support the economic recovery," Bloomberg reported, citing diplomats familiar with the talks.

The European Union imposed a ban on non-essential travel to member states from most countries of the world in March 2020. To stop the spread of the Covid 19 epidemic.

European governments want to move to a system that allows people to travel, if they are vaccinated against the Corona virus, have recovered from the virus, or have tested negative for the virus.

A request to ease travel restrictions by some European countries will likely be discussed at a summit of EU leaders later this month.
