Interpol (International Criminal Police Organization) issued the Red Notice to the owner and captain of the "Roussos" ship that transported the shipment of ammonium nitrate to Beirut port and to the nitrate trader (Portuguese national) who examined the nitrates in Ward No. 12 in 2014, at the request of the cassation attorney General Judge Ghassan El-Khoury, who obtained a copy of the newsletter. It is noteworthy that the Red Notice issued by the International Interpol is a request to law enforcement security agencies around the world to locate the accused and temporarily arrest him pending his extradition or similar legal action by the local authority in any of the organization's member states.
On August 4, Beirut port witnessed a huge explosion of hundreds of tons of ammonium nitrate, which left more than 200 dead and thousands injured and destroyed large parts of the capital.
The government resigned over the blast, but it is still doing business for not forming a new government yet.
The judicial source stated that the judicial investigator, Judge Fadi Sawan, wrote to the Parliament in which he informed him that the investigations he conducted with current and former ministers provided certain suspicions about the responsibility of these ministers and their failure to deal with the presence of ammonium nitrate in the port.
The source confirmed that Judge Sawan asked Parliament to conduct investigations with the Minister of Works in the caretaker government, Michel Najjar, and his predecessors Youssef Fenianos, Ghazi Al-Aridi, Ghazi Zaiter, the caretaker finance minister Ghazi Wazna and his predecessor Ali Hassan Khalil, and the Minister of Justice in the caretaker government, Marie-Claude Najm and her predecessors Ashraf Rifi, Saleem Jreissati and Albert Sarhan, considering that the prosecution of ministers is exclusively entrusted to the Supreme Council to try presidents and ministers.
