Imad Salam, a member of the Printing and Packaging Chamber of the Federation of Industries, revealed that local factories have a two-month supply of raw materials, with the global supply crisis and the price movement of all kinds of papers.
He added that there is a continuous movement of dash paper to record 4,500 pounds against 800 pounds per ton, with its continued rise globally, which raised the price per ton, noting that local factories focus on meeting the current need from the domestic market with a significant increase in the imported price.
In special statements, Salam revealed that the receipt of import deals for paper may be delayed until August and September, with the continued rise in global demand for paper varieties and a significant decline in factory productivity due to the Coronavirus pandemic, as well as the high number of infections in Europe that caused the reduction of the production capacities of factories there.
Imad Salam explained that the price of a ton of "flute" paper, which is used in the cardboard industry, rose from 6 to 10 thousand pounds, and duplex paper rose to 1400 dollars against 850 dollars, which is used in the manufacture of meal boxes.
